How to use the wheel
Making a random selection takes only a few moments:
- Add the choices you want to include: Enter your options one by one in the entries list, or click Bulk to paste a complete list of items at once.
- Adjust the wheel settings if needed: Give your wheel a title, choose a color palette, set spin speed, or adjust sound and celebration effects.
- Spin the wheel: Click the Spin button or click directly on the wheel canvas to start the rotation.
- Use the result to make your decision: Once the wheel comes to a complete stop, the pointer marks the chosen winner and an on-screen dialog confirms the result.
Customize your wheel
The editor gives you control over how your wheel looks and behaves during spins:
- Managing choices: Add new items, delete unneeded entries, or reorder and shuffle your list with a single click.
- Ready-made presets: Quickly load built-in lists for common scenarios such as lunch choices, yes-or-no decisions, numbers, workout routines, and date ideas.
- Wheel settings: Adjust spin duration from slow to fast, choose from different sound effects (slice ticks, drumroll, chime, or silent), and enable or disable idle motion.
- Automatic removal: Turn on the option to automatically remove the winning slice after each spin, ideal for raffles or eliminating completed tasks.
- Visual themes & palettes: Switch between color themes like Bright, Neon, and Calm, or assign custom slice colors to match your event.
Ways to use a decision wheel
A visual wheel helps individuals and groups resolve everyday dilemmas quickly and without debate:
- Choosing what to eat: Settle group meal debates by adding favorite restaurants, takeout options, or home recipes.
- Deciding who goes first: Determine turn orders for board games, family chores, presentations, or interview rounds.
- Classroom activities: Select students to answer questions, pick reading topics, or assign classroom roles.
- Team activities: Randomize speakers for agile stand-ups, assign peer reviews, or break ties during brainstorming sessions.
- Selecting a random task: Beat procrastination by letting the wheel pick your next chore, workout exercise, or book to read.
- Giveaways and games: Host interactive raffles, party games, or streaming giveaways with visible results for all participants.
Weighted choices
Not every decision requires equal odds. The entries panel includes a Weight field for every choice on the wheel. By default, every entry has a weight of 1, meaning each slice occupies an equal portion of the wheel.
When you increase a choice's weight, that slice expands visually on the wheel, giving it a proportionally higher probability of being selected. Conversely, reducing a weight narrows the slice and lowers its chance of landing on the pointer. This is useful for tiered prize giveaways or when some outcomes are preferred but not guaranteed.
Spin history and sharing
During your current browser session, the wheel tracks previous results in the Spin history panel. You can review the most recent winners to keep track of previous picks or clear the log whenever you start a new activity.
When you want to share a wheel with friends, colleagues, or students, click the Share button. This generates a direct link with your wheel's title and choices encoded directly into the web address. Anyone who opens the link receives your exact list of choices ready to spin, without requiring an account or saving data to an external server.
Use the wheel on any device
The wheel is built to run smoothly across modern desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. On larger screens, controls are laid out side-by-side for rapid editing, with a dedicated Presentation mode that hides editing panels for full-screen sharing during meetings or live streams. On smartphones, the layout adapts cleanly to touch inputs so you can configure entries and spin on the go.
